[Expediting the study on the role of stem cells in wound treatment].
The restoration of destroyed skin tissue in extensive deep burn injury has been perplexing burn surgeons for a long time due to impossibility of de novo formation of true skin in the process of burn wound healing with the current treatment methods. Stem cells possess the capacity to repair the damaged tissue through regeneration of the original structure and function, and it is considered as the expected ideal outcome of burn wound healing and also the final goal of multidisciplinary wound managements. In the skin tissue, the resident stem cells do exist, and they retain an autonomous self-renewal potential, and they respond to guiding signals to differentiate in repairing burn wound. ⋯ The recent discovery of reprogramming a mature body cell into a pluripotent stem cell, which can then be converted to any type of human body cell sheds a new light to regenerative medicine. Stem cell-based regeneration is offering the next coming frontier of medical therapy by yielding new treatment through delivery of pluripotent stem cells to achieve structural and functional repair in the damaged tissues or organs due to trauma or chronic diseases. Therefore, it is a pressing task for us to expedite the study on the role and utility of stem cells in burn wound treatment, especially aiming to explore the possibility in regenerating skin appendages or even the entire structure of the normal skin, and avoiding the formation of hypertrophic scar or chronic wound after burn.

[Analysis of articles published in Chinese Journal of Burns winning high citation rate during 2000-2009].
To analyze the inherent quality of articles published in our journal enjoying high citation rate, and to explore strategies on improving impact of papers. ⋯ Authors should emphasize subject planning in order to compose papers with high quality. The editorial board should make arrangements with influential specialists with related skills for their contributions based on subjects of popular interest concerning the cutting-edge problems of the specific specialty, and pay close attention to papers on clinical study and those with funding from high levels, to improve impact of the articles.

[Influence of enteral administration of hypertonic electrolyte glucose solution on the intestinal barrier and organ functions in dogs with severe burn].
To study the change in intestinal barrier and organ functions of burned dog after enteral administration of hypertonic electrolyte glucose solution (HEGS) in shock stage. ⋯ HEGS does not cause significant harm to the barrier function of intestinal mucosa of shock dog after burn. Compared with NF, HEGS can significantly improve functions of heart, liver, and kidney, and it can achieve the same resuscitation effect as enteral or intravenous infusion of IEGS with only half of the solution volume.

[Influence of endothelin-1 and NO on the instant change in cardiac function of rats at early stage of severe burn].
To explore whether endothelin-1 and NO are involved in the instant changes in cardiac function at early stage of severe burn. ⋯ Endothelin-1 may participate in the instant decline of cardiac function of rats at early stage of severe burn, and plays an important role in the instant myocardial damage after injury.
