[Myocardial injury after burn at early stage and its treatment].
Ischemia/hypoxia is one of the key clinical issues following severe burns, and ischemic/hypoxic damage of tissues and organs is still hard to be prevented or minimized by various fluid resuscitation regimens. To those who suffered severe burns, even though fluid replacement therapy is delivered promptly, ischemic/hypoxic damage of organs is still inevitable. Previously, blood flow in vital organs such as heart was considered not to be reduced because of blood redistribution under the circumstance of stress. ⋯ Therefore, we called it "shock heart" in our reports. The cellular and molecular mechanisms leading to myocardial damage were systematically investigated. Strategies for prevention of early postburn myocardial damage and dysfunction, and a new effective burn shock resuscitation regimen "volume replacement" plus "dynamic support" (cardiac support and myocardial protection) have been proposed based on our previous studies.

[Functional reconstruction of multiple severe deformities after extensive deep burn].
To explore new measures for functional reconstruction of multiple severe deformities as a result of extensive deep burn (total burn surface area > or = 90% TBSA, including deep burn > or = 70%TBSA) in late stage. Twelve severe burn patients with above-mentioned deformities were hospitalized in our ward during 1960--2005, the scars resulted from burns were distributed from head to foot with 173 deformities, including 27 scar ulcers. All patients lacked of self-care ability, among them some could not stand. ⋯ All grafts survived, the appearance and function were improved obviously without complications. Follow-up 1-40 years, all patients could take care themselves with satisfactory function and appearance, and among them 8 patients returned to work (one had worked for 40 years), 2 patients married and had children. The above-mentioned measures are safe, reliable and effective for functional reconstruction of deformities.

[Treatment of inhalation injury with high frequency ventilation].
High frequency ventilation (HFV) is a kind of lung protective ventilation strategy. High-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) can decrease the water content, relocate interstitial fluid and accelerate lymph flow in the lung of dogs with smoke inhalation injury. HFJV can effectively improve breathing mechanics and gas exchange in dogs with smoke inhalation injury. Clinical application also proves that HFV is efficient in treatment of inhalation injury.

Controlled Clinical Trial[Clinical practice and evaluation of relative fluid resuscitation formula at burn shock stage].
To evaluate the application of the Third Military Medical University (TMMU) formula for fluid resuscitation on the major burn patients during shock stage. ⋯ TMMU formula for fluid resuscitation is a feasible option for major burn patients. Individual fluid resuscitation, guided by the physiological response, is also important and necessary.

[Improving myocardial mechanics parameters of severe burn rabbits with oral fluid resuscitation].
To investigate the protective effect of oral fluid resuscitation on cardiac function in severe burn rabbits. ⋯ Effective oral fluid therapy in severe burn rabbits during 24 hours after burn can ameliorate myocardial mechanics parameters. The amount of fluid resuscitation can be estimated according to relevant formula for delayed fluid resuscitation in burn rabbits.
