Outcomes of peritonitis in children on peritoneal dialysis: a 25-year experience at Severance Hospital.
Relatively little is known on the microbiology, risk factors and outcomes of peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritonitis in Korean children. We performed this study in order to evaluate the incidence, treatment and clinical outcomes of peritonitis in pediatric PD patients at Severance Hospital. ⋯ Peritonitis was an important complication of PD therapy and we observed a higher incidence of PD peritonitis in patients with CAPD when compared to APD.

Meta AnalysisAssociation of Helicobacter pylori with elevated blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients: a meta-analysis.
The association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients is controversial. We aimed to clarify this controvercy by performing a meta-analysis of published studies. ⋯ H. pylori infection is associated with elevated blood ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients, and more large scale studies and stratify analysis are warranted in order to further evaluate this association.

Case ReportsNovel mutations in the UNC13D gene carried by a Chinese neonate with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) in different ethnicities has been described in the literature, but few cases in patients of Chinese descent have been reported. Here, we describe the case of a Chinese neonate presenting with HLH carrying novel, compound heterozygous mutations of the UNC13D gene, including [c.2295_2298delGCAG, p. ⋯ Cytokine profile analyses were performed in this patient, and the results were consistent with our previous findings in HLH patients. Cytokine profile monitoring may be helpful in differentiating among various clinical phases of HLH.
