Difference in mortality among individuals admitted to hospital with COVID-19 during the first and second waves in South Africa: a cohort study.
The first wave of COVID-19 in South Africa peaked in July, 2020, and a larger second wave peaked in January, 2021, in which the SARS-CoV-2 501Y.V2 (Beta) lineage predominated. Hospital nurse staffing and patient outcomes in Chile: a multilevel cross-sectional study.
Unrest in Chile over inequalities has underscored the need to improve public hospitals. Using Chile's new diagnosis-related groups system and surveys of nurses and patients, we provide information to policy makers on feasibility, net costs, and estimated improved outcomes associated with increasing nursing resources in public hospitals. ⋯ For the Spanish translation of the abstract see Supplementary Materials section.
