Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of 4% articaine and 0.5% levobupivacaine/2% lidocaine mixture for sub-Tenon's anaesthesia in phacoemulsification cataract surgery: a randomised controlled trial.
[corrected] The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of 4% articaine with a mixture containing equal volumes of 2% lidocaine and 0.5% levobupivacaine without hyaluronidase for sub-Tenon's anaesthesia in phacoemulsification cataract surgery. ⋯ Articaine (4%) is a safer and a superior anaesthetic agent than a mixture of 2% lidocaine and 0.5% levobupicaine in achieving ocular akinesia for sub-Tenon's block in phacoemulsification cataract surgery.

To investigative whether clinical manifestations of anterior uveitis are associated with the viral load of varicella zoster virus (VZV) in the aqueous humor in patients with herpes zoster ophthalmicus (HZO) and zoster sine herpete (ZSH). ⋯ VZV viral load in the aqueous humor correlated significantly with damage to the iris (iris atrophy and pupil distortion) in patients with HZO and ZSH.

To describe the "small bubble" technique to immediately determine the success of attaining complete Descemet's membrane (DM) separation from corneal stroma via Anwar's "big bubble" technique of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK). ⋯ The small bubble technique helps in confirming the separation of DM from the deep stroma, which is important in achieving the goal of total stromal replacement. Randomized Controlled Trial
Falls and health status in elderly women following first eye cataract surgery: an economic evaluation conducted alongside a randomised controlled trial.
To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of first eye cataract surgery compared with no surgery from a health service and personal social services perspective. ⋯ First eye cataract surgery, while cost-ineffective over the trial period, was probably cost-effective over the participants' remaining lifetime.
