Observational StudyAnaesthesiologists' clinical judgment accuracy regarding preoperative full stomach: Diagnostic study in urgent surgical adult patients.
In urgent situations, preoperative full stomach assessment mostly relies on clinical judgment. Our primary objective was to assess the diagnostic performance of clinical judgment for the preoperative assessment of full stomach in urgent patients compared to gastric point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). Our secondary objective was to identify risk factors associated with PoCUS full stomach in urgent patients. ⋯ Clinical judgment showed poor-to-moderate performance in urgent surgical patients for the diagnosis of full stomach. Gastric PoCUS should be used to assess risk of full stomach in this population.

Variability and reliability of the French version of the Quality of Recovery-40 Questionnaire (QoR-40).
The quality of recovery-40 (QoR-40) is a 40-item questionnaire. It is widely used and validated in English language for non-major surgery. Its objective is to collect information about quality of recovery in the postoperative period. However, a French version of the QoR-40 has not yet been established. The objective of this study was to develop a French version of QoR-40. ⋯ The French version of QoR-40 seems to be valid, reliable, and acceptable as the original English version.

Transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange during rapid sequence induction in children.
The objective of this study was to measure the incidence of arterial oxygen desaturation during rapid sequence induction intubation in children following apnoeic oxygenation via transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE). ⋯ Results of the current study indicated that almost 91% of RSI can be performed without desaturation when THRIVE is used. A comparative controlled study is required to confirm these findings. Specific situations and conditions limiting the efficacy of THRIVE during RSI should also be investigated.
