Butterfly Tumor of the Corpus Callosum: Clinical Characteristics, Diagnosis, and Survival Analysis.
The pathologies implicate the bilateral corpus callosum that builds the butterfly pattern on axial view. These tumors have seldom been investigated for both clinical manifestations and outcome. ⋯ The butterfly tumor is a poor prognostic disease compared with each histology subgroup. Further molecular investigation is preferable to explore genetic variations associated with these tumors.

Case ReportsDilated Virchow-Robin Spaces Mimicking a Brainstem Arteriovenous Malformation.
Virchow-Robin spaces (VRS) are ubiquitous and commonly observed as the resolution of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) continues to improve. The function of VRS and the etiology of their dilation is still a subject of research. ⋯ Furthermore, the extensive pontine involvement of our patient's lesion is rarely described in neurosurgical literature. Understanding the imaging characteristics of dVRS is critical to accurately diagnose these lesions and avoid unnecessary tests and procedures.

Case ReportsTelescoping Dual Covered Stent Graft Construct for Endovascular Treatment of a Giant Extracranial Carotid Artery Pseudoaneurysm.
Large pseudoaneurysms which compress the parent vessel are challenging lesions to successfully treat with endovascular therapy. We describe the endovascular treatment of a giant extracranial carotid artery (ECCA) pseudoaneurysm resulting in substantial mass effect on the common carotid artery (CCA) bifurcation using a telescoping dual covered stent graft construct. ⋯ The patient underwent endovascular intervention, during which a balloon-expandable covered stent was deployed within a heparin-bonded covered stent, such that the overall construct spanned from the CCA to the lower cervical ICA. The employment of a telescoping dual covered stent technique can successfully treat appropriately selected patients with large or giant ECCA pseudoaneurysms, with the concomitant goals of excluding the pseudoaneurysm and restoring the luminal caliber of the parent artery.

Epidemiology, clinical characteristics and outcomes of traumatic brain injury: Evidences from integrated level 1 trauma center in India.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of mortality, morbidity, disability, and socioeconomic losses in the Indian subcontinent. However, for policymaking and research, there is a lack of reliable and larger data in our settings. ⋯ This is the first study of its kind from the Indian subcontinent that gives data on the admission characteristics, mortality, and 6 months outcome of such patients. Most of the injuries occurred due to RTAs, more common among the economic productive age groups and mostly in males with a high rate of mortality and unfavorable outcome.

Case ReportsSurgical resection of low-grade gliomas in eloquent areas with the guidance of the preoperative functional magnetic resonance imaging and craniometric points.
Surgical resection of low-grade gliomas (LGGs) in eloquent areas is one of the challenges in neurosurgery, using assistant tools to facilitate effective excision with minimal postoperative neurological deficits has been previously discussed (awake craniotomy and intraoperative cortical stimulation); however, these tools could have their own limitations thus implementation of a simple and effective technique that can guide to safe excision is needed in many situations. ⋯ In spite of its simplicity, the identification of the safe anatomical landmarks guided by the preoperative fMRI is a useful technique that serves in safe excision of LGGs in eloquent areas. Such technique can replace intraoperative evoked potentials or the awake craniotomy in most of the cases. However, navigation-guided excision might be crucial in deeply seated and large tumors to allow safe and radical excision.
