ReviewCannabis, cannabinoids and schizophrenia: integration of the evidence.
Understanding of the neurophysiological basis of cognitive, behavioural and perceptual disturbances associated with long-term cannabis use has grown dramatically. Exogenous cannabinoids alter the normative functioning of the endogenous cannabinoid system. ⋯ The purpose of the present paper was to selectively review the links between cannabis use and psychosis, drawing upon recent epidemiological, clinical, cognitive, brain imaging and neurobiological research. The aim is to assist clinicians to probe more deeply into the newly unfolding world of cannabinoid physiology and to critically evaluate the potential role of cannabis in the onset and persistence of cognitive impairments and psychosis in otherwise healthy users and in schizophrenia.

Clinical TrialPilot study evaluating the effect of massage therapy on stress, anxiety and aggression in a young adult psychiatric inpatient unit.
The aim of the present pilot study was to examine the effectiveness of a relaxation massage therapy programme in reducing stress, anxiety and aggression on a young adult psychiatric inpatient unit. ⋯ Massage therapy had immediate beneficial effects on anxiety-related measures and may be a useful de-escalating tool for reducing stress and anxiety in acutely hospitalized psychiatric patients. Study limitations preclude any definite conclusions on the effect of massage therapy on aggressive incidents in an acute psychiatric setting. Randomized controlled trials are warranted.

Impact of lifetime subthreshold depression and major depression before internship on psychopathology and quality of life in Korean interns: 6 month follow-up study.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the influences of lifetime subthreshold depression and major depression before internship on the changes in psychopathology and subjective quality of life during internship. ⋯ Even a subthreshold-level, lifetime depression before internship has an adverse effect on the psychopathology and the subjective quality of life during internship. Therefore, earlier detection, monitoring, and management of this population would be needed throughout the intern year and beyond.
