Inpatient hospital care for back disorders in relation to industry and occupation in Finland.
The variation in hospital admission rates was studied for back disorders by industry and occupational title among gainfully employed Finns. ⋯ Hospitalization rates for back disorders were high for several physically strenuous industries and occupations.

Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Contribution of individual spa therapies in the treatment of chronic pain.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the contribution of individual spa therapies administered during a period of 3 weeks on measures of well being and pain in a sample of patients with chronic back pain. ⋯ The results indicate that, in addition to the individual therapies, other factors relating to spa therapy as a whole must contribute to overall treatment outcome. In addition, the results support the efficacy of exercise therapy for chronic back pain.

Retrospective chart review. ⋯ FBSS is a syndrome consisting of a myriad of surgical and nonsurgical etiologies. Approximately one half of FBSS patients have a surgical etiology. Approximately 95% of patients can be provided a specific diagnosis.

Epidural analgesia and backache: a randomized controlled comparison with intramuscular meperidine for analgesia during labour.
Concern has been expressed that epidural analgesia for labour may be associated with a higher incidence of backache. ⋯ Epidural analgesia in labour was not associated with an increase in the prevalence or incidence of backache.
