Videolaryngoscopes are crucial components of a difficult airway cart. Issues of cost and availability, however, remain a problem. We compared the combination of an endoscope used in conjunction with the Macintosh laryngoscope with established videolaryngoscopes and the Macintosh laryngoscope using the intubation difficulty scale (IDS) score. ⋯ The performance of videoendoscope was comparable to C-MAC D Blade and superior to Truview EVO2 and Macintosh laryngoscope with respect to the IDS score and may thereby provide an effective alternative to commercial videolaryngoscopes in low resource settings.

Observational StudyA prospective observational trial evaluating factors predictive of accurate endotracheal tube positioning in neonates and small infants.
There is a high incidence of endotracheal tube malposition in neonates and small infants. Yet, verification of accurate endotracheal tube location via radiographic imaging involves radiation exposure. ⋯ So far, no parameter has proven to be able to predict accurate endotracheal tube position in neonates reliably. These findings emphasize the indispensability of postintubation imaging in neonates and small infants.

Enclosure with augmented airflow to decrease risk of exposure to aerosolized pathogens including coronavirus during endotracheal intubation. Can the reduction in aerosolized particles be quantified?
As the pandemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) has impacted hospital routines in recent weeks, recommendations to reduce healthcare worker infections are being developed. ⋯ Aerosolized particulate contamination in the operating room can be decreased using a clear plastic enclosure with minimal openings and augmented airflow. This may serve to decrease the exposure of healthcare providers to aerosolized pathogens.
