AbstractWe present evidence-based clinical practice recommendations for the administration of etomidate for emergency department (ED) rapid sequence induction. We critically discuss indications and contraindications in typical ED patient subpopulations such as the traumatic, septic, neurologic, or pulmonary patient. Future research questions are considered.
