Randomized Controlled TrialRole of oral tramadol 50 mg in reducing pain associated with outpatient hysteroscopy: A randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial.
Several drugs have been used to reduce hysteroscopy-associated pain. Although the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists has recommended against the use of opiates in outpatient hysteroscopy, we wished to investigate if opioids can be used if the appropriate opioid was given in the appropriate dose. ⋯ Oral administration of tramadol 50 mg before hysteroscopy reduces the pain evoked by the procedure and the drug was well tolerated by women.

Progressing towards standard outcomes in gestational diabetes Cochrane reviews and randomised trials.
Outcomes in gestational diabetes Cochrane protocols and reviews before and after development of 'standard outcomes' by WOMBAT (WOMen and Babies health and well-being: Action through Trials) were surveyed. An increase in 'common' outcomes (those prespecified by ≥50% of the protocols and reviews) over time was observed (2001-2009: 27 vs 2010-2014: 46). There were discrepancies in outcomes prespecified in reviews and reported by randomised trials. Efforts are needed to develop a core outcome set, to reduce research waste and improve health outcomes.

Simplified technique for injection of Botulinum Toxin to Obturator Internus muscle using ultrasound-guided nerve stimulation for persistent pelvic pain.
Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injections have been used to reduce muscle spasm in the presence of severe pelvic pain. However, while pubococcygeus is easily accessed vaginally, injection to obturator internus is more complex - with variation in operative technique and needle placement confounding the ability to assess outcomes. We describe a simplified technique for BoNT injection to obturator internus using neurostimulation under ultrasound guidance.

Influence of anterior vaginal mesh with concomitant mid-urethral sling surgery on stress urinary incontinence: clinical and sonographic outcome.
To clinically and sonographically evaluate the influence of anterior vaginal mesh (AVM) surgery with concomitant mid-urethral sling surgery (MUS) for stress urinary incontinence (SUI). ⋯ Among women who had MUS, there were no differences in the ultrasound and clinical outcome between those who had AVM or otherwise.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAssociation of cord blood vitamin D at delivery with postpartum depression in Australian women.
Observational studies have implicated low serum vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D)) levels in the development of mood disorders. Postpartum depression (PPD) is an important public health issue, although little is known about its association with serum 25(OH)D. ⋯ This largest study to date of 25(OH)D levels at delivery and PPD did not reveal a consistent link with PPD.
