Randomized Controlled TrialMindfulness-based cognitive therapy for preventing relapse in recurrent depression: a randomized dismantling trial.
We compared mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with both cognitive psychological education (CPE) and treatment as usual (TAU) in preventing relapse to major depressive disorder (MDD) in people currently in remission following at least 3 previous episodes. ⋯ MBCT provided significant protection against relapse for participants with increased vulnerability due to history of childhood trauma, but showed no significant advantage in comparison to an active control treatment and usual care over the whole group of patients with recurrent depression.

Randomized Controlled TrialTherapeutic alliance in face-to-face and telephone-administered cognitive behavioral therapy.
Telephone-administered therapies have emerged as an alternative method of delivery for the treatment of depression, yet concerns persist that the use of the telephone may have a deleterious effect on therapeutic alliance. The purpose of this study was to compare therapeutic alliance in clients receiving cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression by telephone (T-CBT) or face-to-face (FtF-CBT). ⋯ Results from this analysis do not support the hypothesis that the use of the telephone to provide CBT reduces therapeutic alliance relative to FtF-CBT.

Prevalence and predictors of depressive symptoms among cancer caregivers 5 years after the relative's cancer diagnosis.
Few studies address the longer term psychological adjustment of family caregivers who provide care to a relative with cancer. This study aimed to document levels of depressive symptoms among caregivers 5 years after their relative's initial diagnosis and to identify psychosocial factors that may prospectively predict caregivers' depressive symptoms at that time. ⋯ The findings highlight the importance of caregiving stress and social support early in caregivership, even for outcomes that emerge 3 years later. Findings suggest that family members who are actively involved in cancer care at the 5-year mark may benefit from programs designed to improve their adjustment to long-term caregiving.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA randomized clinical trial comparing an acceptance-based behavior therapy to applied relaxation for generalized anxiety disorder.
To examine whether an empirically and theoretically derived treatment combining mindfulness- and acceptance-based strategies with behavioral approaches would improve outcomes in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) over an empirically supported treatment. ⋯ ABBT is a viable alternative for treating GAD. Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyThe therapeutic relationship in cognitive-behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy for anxious youth.
We examined the therapeutic relationship with cognitive-behavioral therapists and with pharmacotherapists for youth from the Child/Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Study (Walkup et al., 2008). The therapeutic relationship was examined in relation to treatment outcomes. ⋯ A therapeutic relationship may be important for anxious youth who receive CBT alone.
