The Effect of Preoperative Symptom Duration on Postoperative Outcomes After Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion.
Retrospective. ⋯ In our study, patients with DOS <12 months exhibited significantly worse ODI and VAS leg pain scores at the time of surgery compared with patients with longer DOS. However, these patients demonstrated similar clinical improvement postoperatively regardless of preoperative symptom duration. These findings suggest that delayed surgical intervention may not lead to impaired functional recovery in patients with degenerative lumbar disease.

The Impact of Comorbidity Burden on Postoperative PROMIS Physical Function Following Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion.
This was a retrospective cohort study. ⋯ In this investigation, the authors compared the clinical recovery of patients with varying comorbidities undergoing an MIS TLIF using PROMIS PF. Regardless of comorbidity, patients reported similar preoperative PROMIS PF scores and had similar improvements throughout the 1-year follow-up. This study established that PROMIS PF is an effective tool to evaluate the recovery of patients with differing comorbidities after MIS TLIF.

Disproportionate Case Reduction After Ban of Elective Surgeries During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic.
This is a retrospective case analysis. ⋯ The disproportionate effect of case reduction needs to be considered while calculating resources released by regulatory limitation of "elective surgeries" on a (inter-)national level.

Spine surgery has seen considerable advancements over the last 2 decades, particularly in the fields of image-guidance and robotics. These technologies offer the potential to overcome the various technical challenges in spinal surgery, such as physical and mental fatigue, hand tremor, difficulties with manual dexterity, and surgical precision. This review provides an overview of the image-guidance and robotics systems currently available. ⋯ Future advancements in the field include "augmented reality" systems, which build on these navigation platforms, but are yet to come to market. These developing technologies have considerable potential to improve the field of spine surgery. Further research is required in this area to determine superiority of these developing technologies over conventional techniques before widespread use should be adapted.

Sleep Disturbance in Patients With Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: Association With Disability and Quality of Life.
This was a cross-sectional cohort study. ⋯ The present study demonstrated that 'poor sleep quality' is a prevalent condition (63.5%) in patients with symptomatic LSS. Poor sleep quality has an adverse effect on functional disability and health-related quality of life in symptomatic LSS patients.
