Does Prophylactic Administration of TXA Reduce Mean Operative Time and Postoperative Blood Loss in Posterior Approach Lumbar Spinal Fusion Surgery Performed for Degenerative Spinal Disease?
This is a level III retrospective cohort study. ⋯ In the present study, perioperative TXA administration was associated with reduced postoperative drain output and surgical time. Further higher-level studies are required to investigate the safety and utility of TXA's routine use in 1 and 2-level posterior lumbar fusion operations performed for degenerative indications.

Association of Pain History and Current Pain With Sagittal Spinal Alignment and Muscle Stiffness and Muscle Mass of the Back Muscles in Middle-aged and Elderly Women.
A cross-sectional study. ⋯ Our results suggest that LBPH is associated with increased stiffness of the lumbar multifidus muscle in the prone position, and that LBP is associated with the decreased lumbar lordosis in the standing position in community-dwelling middle-aged and elderly women.

The Reliability of Intraoperative Crossbar Technique in Determining the Upper Instrumented Vertebra (UIV) Tilt Angle for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) Undergoing Posterior Spinal Fusion.
Retrospective study. ⋯ The crossbar can be used to measure the intraoperative UIV tilt angle consistently and was able to predict the postoperative UIV tilt angle. It was a cheap, simple, reliable, and accurate instrument to measure the intraoperative UIV tilt angle.

Comparative StudyNavigation Versus Fluoroscopy in Multilevel MIS Pedicle Screw Insertion: Separate Analysis of Exposure to Radiation of the Surgeon and of the Patients.
This study was a retrospective radiographic analysis of consecutive patients. ⋯ PIN in MIS is a safe procedure and does, compared with PIF, lead to significant reduction of radiation dose for patients and-even more-for spine surgeons.
