Fetoplacental regional variations in the expression of angiopoietin-1, angiopoietin-2, and Tie2 in normal-term and near-term pregnancies.
Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1), angiopoietin-2 (Ang2), and the receptor tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin-like and EGF-like domains 2 (Tie2) are known to be involved in fetoplacental angiogenesis adequacy, which is a primary determinant of fetal growth. Regional variations in Ang1, Ang2, and Tie2 remain unknown, although fetoplacental vascularity and gene expressions differ between the placental center and the periphery. ⋯ Ang1, Ang2, and Tie2 are differentially expressed in placental center and periphery. Ang1/Ang2 ratio reflects this regional variation in the angiogenic balance that has implications for fetoplacental villous angiogenesis. The results also demonstrate the importance of considering the location of placental sampling sites for any future investigations of fetoplacental villous angiogenesis.

Rescuers' physical fatigue with different chest compression to ventilation methods during simulated infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
To assess development of objective, subjective and indirect measures of fatigue during simulated infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with two different methods. ⋯ The results indicate a trend toward more fatigue during simulated CPR in CCaV-120 compared to the recommended 3:1 C:V CPR. These results support current guidelines.

Observational StudyIntrapartum translabial ultrasound with pushing used to predict the difficulty in vacuum-assisted delivery of fetuses in non-occiput posterior position.
Our aim is to evaluate the capacity of intrapartum translabial ultrasound (ITU) with pushing in the prediction of difficulty of fetal extraction in vacuum assisted deliveries. Prospective, observational study performed (2/2015-8/2015) on 75 nulliparous women, ≥37 weeks with singleton pregnancies at full dilatation who had ITU-with-pushing performed, previous to vacuum-placement for fetal extraction. Working on the translabial sagittal-plane, we assessed: Angle-Progression (AoP), Progression-Distance (PD) and Head-Direction (HD); in the axial plane we evaluated: Midline-Angle (MLA) and Head-Perineum-Distance (HPD). Vacuum extractions were classified as easy-difficulty (ED) (≤3 vacuum-pulls), difficult-unsuccessful (DD) (>3 vacuum-pulls). We did not assess occipito-posterior-presentations. ⋯ We identified that the presence of an AoP-Pushing > 128° predicts an Easy-Vacuum-Delivery (≤3 Vacuum-Pulls) in >85% of cases (Sen 80%-FPR 9.3%).

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyMyo-inositol may prevent gestational diabetes onset in overweight women: a randomized, controlled trial.
To evaluate whether myo-inositol supplementation may reduce gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) rate in overweight women. ⋯ Myo-inositol supplementation, administered since early pregnancy, reduces GDM incidence in overweight non-obese women.

Comparative Study Observational StudyPre-delivery remifentanil infusion for placenta accreta cesarean delivery under general anesthesia: an observational study.
General anesthesia may be required for placenta accreta cesarean delivery. Intrauterine fetal anesthetic exposure should be minimized to avoid neonatal respiratory depression; opioids are often delayed until post-delivery. ⋯ We did not observe a significant effect on neonatal Apgar scores at 1 and 5 min, or respiratory interventions at birth when remifentanil infusion was administered pre-delivery.
