Clinical use of fresh-frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate in neonatal intensive care unit.
Evidence-based indications for the use of plasma products in neonatal medicine are limited to few conditions. In the setting of inherited disorders of hemostasis, fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and cryoprecipitate should be used as replacement therapy only if the specific factor concentrate is not available. FFP is indicated to treat disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), liver failure, vitamin K-dependent bleeding and to reconstitute whole blood for exchange transfusion. Despite the lack of evidence, the use of cryoprecipitate to treat neonates with acquired hypofibrinogenemia during DIC or liver failure is now considered standard therapy.

Why women request cesarean section without medical indication?
To understand the reasons of the cesarean delivery on maternal request (CDMR) without medical indication would help to reduce the rates of unnecessary cesarean-delivery (CD). The objective of this study is to determine the basal knowledge of women regarding normal delivery (ND) and CD and also to assess their attitudes about CDMR, and to find out the reasons influencing those attitudes. ⋯ Although majority of the women had wrong idea or no idea about the risks and benefits of CD, nearly half of them indicated that women can always demand CDMR. This study shows that basal knowledge of the women should be improved by education.

Labor epidural analgesia is independent risk factor for neonatal pyrexia.
To explore whether epidural analgesia (EA) in labor is independent risk factor for neonatal pyrexia after controlling for intrapartum pyrexia. ⋯ EA in labor is an independent risk factor for pyrexia in term neonates. It is unnecessary to investigate febrile offspring of mothers who have had epidurals unless pyrexia persists for longer than 5 h or other signs or risk factors for neonatal sepsis are present.

Heart stroke volume, cardiac output, and ejection fraction in 265 normal fetus in the second half of gestation assessed by 4D ultrasound using spatio-temporal image correlation.
The aim of this study was to establish nomograms for fetal stroke volume (SV), cardiac output (CO), and ejection fraction (EF) using four-dimensional ultrasound with spatio-temporal image correlation (STIC) modality. ⋯ Four-dimensional ultrasound using STIC represents a simple and reproducible method for estimating fetal cardiac function. STIC seems to overcome many of the pitfalls of conventional ultrasound methods and has the potential to become the method of choice.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialShort-term postnatal quality of life in women with previous Misgav Ladach caesarean section compared to Pfannenstiel-Dorffler caesarean section method.
To examine whether short-term postnatal health-related quality of life differed among women after different methods of cesarean sections. ⋯ Misgav Ladach cesarean section method might lead to better short-time quality of life resulting in reducing postoperative complications compared to Pfannenstiel-Dörfler cesarean section method.
