Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of induction of labor with vaginal misoprostol plus oxytocin versus oxytocin alone in term primigravidae.
To compare the efficacy and complications of intravaginal misoprostol application before starting oxytocin infusion with oxytocin infusion alone for labor induction in term primigravidae pregnancies with low-Bishop score. ⋯ Intravaginal application of 50-μg misoprostol before starting oxytocin infusion is a more effective method of labor induction than oxytocin infusion alone in term primigravidae pregnant women with low-Bishop scores.

Randomized Controlled TrialPreoperative analgesia with local lidocaine for cesarean delivery pain relief.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether local analgesia at the incision site could reduce pain in women undergoing cesarean delivery or not. ⋯ Preemptive analgesia with lidocaine infiltration at the incision is a simple and efficient mode with few side-effects that may reduce pain and opioid requirements in women undergoing CS.

Association between intrapartum fetal heart rate patterns and neonatal abstinence syndrome in methadone exposed neonates.
Determine whether infants exposed to chronic maternal methadone with abnormal intrapartum fetal heart rate (FHR) patterns are more likely to require treatment for neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). ⋯ The need for an infant to require methadone treatment for NAS was not reliably predicted by the intrapartum FHR patterns or the maternal methadone dose.

Review Case ReportsTurner's syndrome and pregnancy: has the 45,X/47,XXX mosaicism a different prognosis? Own clinical experience and literature review.
Turner's syndrome is characterized by an ovarian failure which occurs in most cases before puberty and leads to infertility. In less than 10% of women with Turner syndrome, puberty may occur and spontaneous pregnancies is possible but with a high risk of fetal loss, chromosomal and congenital abnormalities. ⋯ Short stature was the only manifestation of Turner's syndrome. In the present report, we reviewed the available literature on the fertility of women with Turner's syndrome and the phenotypic effects of mosaicism for a 47,XXX cell line in Turner's syndrome.
