Meta Analysis
Imaging features and safety and efficacy of endovascular stroke treatment: a meta-analysis of individual patient-level data.
Evidence regarding whether imaging can be used effectively to select patients for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is scarce. We aimed to investigate the association between baseline imaging features and safety and efficacy of EVT in acute ischaemic stroke caused by anterior large-vessel occlusion. ⋯ Medtronic.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Pharyngeal electrical stimulation for early decannulation in tracheotomised patients with neurogenic dysphagia after stroke (PHAST-TRAC): a prospective, single-blinded, randomised trial.
Dysphagia after stroke is common, especially in severely affected patients who have had a tracheotomy. In a pilot trial, pharyngeal electrical stimulation (PES) improved swallowing function in this group of patients. We aimed to replicate and extend this single-centre experience. ⋯ Phagenesis Ltd.

Demyelination of cerebral white matter is thought to drive neuronal degeneration and permanent neurological disability in individuals with multiple sclerosis. Findings from brain MRI studies, however, support the possibility that demyelination and neuronal degeneration can occur independently. We aimed to establish whether post-mortem brains from patients with multiple sclerosis show pathological evidence of cortical neuronal loss that is independent of cerebral white-matter demyelination. ⋯ US National Institutes of Health and National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease in Down syndrome is challenging because of the absence of validated diagnostic biomarkers. We investigated the diagnostic performance of plasma and CSF biomarkers in this population. ⋯ Institute of Health Carlos III, Fundació La Marató de TV3, Fundació Bancaria Obra Social La Caixa, Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down, and Fundació Víctor Grífols i Lucas.
