Comparative StudyOutcomes of interbody fusion cages used in 1 and 2-levels anterior cervical discectomy and fusion: titanium cages versus polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cages.
A prospective study was performed in case with cervical spondylosis who underwent anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with titanium or polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cages. ⋯ The PEEK cage is superior to the titanium cage in maintaining cervical interspace height and radiographic fusion after 1 and 2-levels anterior cervical decompression procedures.

Comparative StudyA case-control study of preemptive analgesia for postoperative pain in patients undergoing posterior lumbar interbody fusion: continuous subcutaneous morphine alone and combined with intrathecal injection.
A case-control clinical study of preemptive analgesia for postoperative pain was conducted. ⋯ SI provided a favorable analgesic effect at any time point. The VAS score was always below 30. Major complications were not observed in either group, but more careful observation for respiratory status was required after the SI procedure. SI can be an attractive method for postoperative analgesia and accomplished with technical ease.

Management of type II odontoid fractures in the geriatric population: outcome of treatment in a rigid cervical orthosis.
Retrospective study. ⋯ Patients treated nonoperatively in rigid collar seem to have an overall favorable outcome. A well-designed prospective study, to compare the outcomes of surgical intervention with nonsurgical management of Type II odontoid in elderly is recommended.

Case ReportsResection of a retropharyngeal craniovertebral junction chordoma through a posterior cervical approach.
This illustrative case report is designed to provide technical data regarding the use of a posterior approach to resect a retropharyngeal chordoma involving the craniovertebral junction. ⋯ The posterior cervical midline exposure could be used to dissect and remove anterior retropharyngeal tumors, with minimal morbidity.

Vertebral reconstruction using the telescopic plate spacer-thoracolumbar (TPS-TL) device.
Retrospective study of surgical technique and outcome. ⋯ The TPS-TL implant is effective in restoring vertebral body height and correcting kyphotic deformity after thoracolumbar vertebrectomy.
