Watertight Sealing Without Lumbar Drainage for Incidental Ventral Dural Defect in Transthoracic Spine Surgery: A Retrospective Review of 53 Cases.
A retrospective review. ⋯ The established watertight closure of the dural defect using the triple layer sealing method without lumbar drainage was more effective and safe.

Observational StudyDegenerative Cervical Disc Disease: Long-term Changes in Sagittal Alignment and Their Clinical Implications After Cervical Interbody Fusion Cage Subsidence: A Prospective Study With Standalone Lordotic Tantalum Cages.
A retrospective, observational study of prospectively collected outcomes. ⋯ Until fusion occurs, tantalum cage settlement into the vertebral body is to be expected. Further subsidence could be the result of segmental adaptative changes. Graft subsidence did not affect the clinical outcome in any of our patients during long-term follow-up. The occurrence of dynamical implant subsidence had a positive effect on cervical lordosis, especially at the posterior IH.

Effect of Coronal Scoliotic Curvature on Sagittal Spinal Shape: Analysis of Parameters in Mature Adolescent Scoliosis Patients.
A radiographic analysis with scoliosis patients. ⋯ A significant relationship exists between sagittal spinal shape and coronal curvature in scoliosis. Understanding the biplanar shapes of scoliosis may be helpful to the surgeons.

Proximal Junctional Kyphosis Following Posterior Hemivertebra Resection and Short Fusion in Children Younger Than 10 Years.
A retrospective study. ⋯ PJK occurred in pediatric patients with simple congenital deformities following hemivertebrectomy and short fusion. PJK was more common in patients with (1) greater immediately postoperative segmental kyphosis and PJA; (2) screw malposition on the UIV; and (3) hemivertebra located on the lower thoracic or the thoracolumbar region.

Novel Hemi-Staple for the Fusionless Correction of Pediatric Scoliosis: Influence on Intervertebral Disks and Growth Plates in a Porcine Model.
In vivo porcine model utilized to evaluate the influence of an intravertebral fusionless growth modulating device (hemi-staple) on intervertebral disks and growth plates. ⋯ Hemi-staples decreased growth plate hypertrophic zone and cell height, and, depending on device insertion site, showed positive signs of disk health sustainability. Spinal growth modulation achieved exclusive of disk compression, as practiced by this method, offers unique advantages over other fusionless techniques. This technique may provide a suitable and attractive alternative for the early treatment of idiopathic scoliosis.
