Clinical outcomes of spinal surgery in patients treated with hemodialysis.
Retrospective study. ⋯ Even in patients treated with long-term HD, spinal surgeries reliably obtain neurological and functional improvement if surgeons judge the preoperative inclusion criteria correctly. However, if surgeries are necessary for these patients, surgeons should consider the patients' comorbidity-related survival rate after the spinal surgeries.

Intraoperative 3-dimensional navigation and ultrasonography during posterior decompression with instrumented fusion for ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament in the thoracic spine.
A retrospective clinical study was conducted. ⋯ Intraoperative ultrasonography and ITN are safe and reliable imaging methods for posterior decompression and instrumented fusion for thoracic myelopathy caused by OPLL.

"Transforaminal thoracic interbody fusion" in the management of lower thoracic spine fracture dislocations: technical note.
A case-control clinical study. ⋯ TTIF achieves posterior rigid fixation with instrumentation, and anterior column reconstruction by interbody fusion. This procedure also enables early postoperative ambulation without respiratory problems. TTIF can be a useful option for reconstructive surgery of the lower thoracic spine after fracture dislocations.

Convex short segment instrumentation and hemi-chevron osteotomies for Putti type 1 thoracic hemivertebrae: a simple treatment option for patients under 5 years old.
A case series depicting the results of a novel surgical technique. ⋯ Transpedicular instrumentation is ideal for early correction in young children. The new posterior approach is much less invasive than the combined approaches or other posterior vertebrectomies and is well tolerated even in very young patients. The fusion segment is kept short. The deformities seem to stop progressing and this can avoid development of severe local deformities and secondary curves.

Randomized Controlled TrialA multimodal approach for postoperative pain management after lumbar decompression surgery: a prospective, randomized study.
A prospective and randomized study. ⋯ Opioid and nonopioid analgesic combinations appear to be safe and effective after lumbar laminectomy. Patients demonstrate lower intravenous morphine requirements, better pain scores, and earlier time to solid food intake.
