Case Reports[Sciatic nerve block performed with nerve stimulation technique in an amputee--a case study].
We present a case of a sciatic nerve block performed with the nerve stimulation technique. This technique is normally not used in amputees because detection of a motor response to an electrical stimulation is impossible. ⋯ After surgery the patient was pain free. The technique thus presents an alternative method for anesthesia and perioperative pain management in a high-risk group of patients.

Case Reports[Long term effect of spinal cord stimulation in a patient with complex regional pain syndrome and phantom pain syndrome type 1 after amputation].
The development of stump and phantom pain after limb amputation in patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is very frequent. Stump pain is typically recurred CRPS and the possibilities for effective pharmacological pain relief are often limited. ⋯ This case story summarises the long term effect of SCS in a patient with CRPS after two amputations of the right leg. Pharmacological pain therapies as well as Guanethidine blockade were found to be ineffective.

Case Reports[Periodic fever--two children with periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis pharyngitis, adenitis syndrome].
PFAPA (periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, adenitis) syndrome is characterised by episodes of fever (>40 degrees C), lasting 4-5 days and recurring every 3-6 weeks, accompanied by aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis or cervical adenitis. Between the episodes of fever there are no symptoms. ⋯ We describe two children with PFAPA syndrome. Early diagnosis can significantly improve the patients' quality of life.
