Air quality, health and climate change are closely connected. Ozone depends on temperature and the greenhouse gas methane from cattle and biomass. ⋯ Reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions by reduced livestock production and use of combustion for energy production, transport and heating will also improve air quality. Energy savings in buildings and use of CO2 neutral fuels should not deteriorate indoor and outdoor air quality.

Interest in and the quantity of publications on delirium in critically ill patients have grown increasingly over the last decade. Critically ill patients have traditionally been sedated to facilitate mechanical ventilation. ⋯ Delirium in the critically ill patients is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Less sedation, guided by protocols with daily wake up trials, and validated delirium scoring systems, have improved the opportunities to diagnose and monitor delirium in the critically ill patients.

Since 2000 the annual use of laboratory animals in Denmark has remained constant at approx. 350,000 animals. Two thirds, i.e. approx. 220,000 of these, were used for medical research. The majority (48-69%) were used for research in neurological and psychiatric diseases, while 7-13% were used for cancer research, and 2-3% for cardiovascular research. The use of rabbits has declined since 2000, while the use of pigs is increasing.
