Case Reports[Chronic pulmonary alterations in children with long-lasting productive cough].
A productive (sounding) cough is always abnormal, and suppurative lung disease should be considered. A chronic suppurative cough may be associated with the destruction of the bronchial wall (bronchiectasis). The most commonly identifiable cause of suppurative cough is cystic fibrosis. This article, which is accompamied by an illustrative CT-scan, describes two paediatric cases of cystic fibrosis and primary ciliary dyskinesia and suggests appropriate avenues of clinical investigation, when chronic suppurative cough presents in children.

[Valproate treatment during pregnancy: description of four cases with foetal valproate syndrome].
Treatment with valproate is associated with an increased risk of teratogenicity compared to other antiepileptic drugs and can cause a complex of serious symptoms usually referred to as "foetal valproate symdrome" which is characterised by major and minor malformations in association with developmental delay. This paper aims to give attention to the syndrome through four case descriptions. Furthermore, possible risk factors and the use of the mutation 677C-T as a risk marker are discussed. ⋯ The foetal valproate syndrome is a complex of symptoms which is probably underdiagnosed and should be considered in the diagnostic evaluation program for children with developmental delay who are born of mothers with epilepsy. The 677C-T mutation does not seem to be a useful genetic marker of this syndrome.

[Enquiries to the Danish Poison Information Centre concerning children aged 0-14-years during a year].
Acute drug poisoning in children poses a serious health problem. The present study assesses all enquiries to the Danish Poison Information Centre (Giftlinjen) concerning children during a one-year period. ⋯ Most drug poisonings in children are not dangerous. However, there is often an uncertainty as to the toxic dose ingested, and an individual and thorough assessment of each case is therefore necessary. The risk assessment and advice given by Giftlinjen is an important tool to avoid unnecessary contact with hospital emergency rooms or other health care services.

Case Reports[A hybrid approach to surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm].
A 57-year-old male, previously treated surgically with insertion of grafts for type A and B aortic dissection, presented with a pulsatile mass in the jugular fossa. Further examination verified a pseudoaneurysm the inlet of which was located at the proximal anastomotic site of the descending aortic graft and a newly developed aneurysm of the aortic arch. Using a left lateral thoracotomy to avoid manipulation of the pseudoaneurysm, we adopted a hybrid approach by first debranching the subclavian and carotid arteries from the descending aorta followed by endoluminal grafting of the aortic arch. The pseudoaneurysm was successfully excluded.
