A pilot study for texture analysis of 18F-FDG and 18F-FLT-PET/CT to predict tumor recurrence of patients with colorectal cancer who received surgery.
This retrospective study was done to examine whether the heterogeneity in primary tumor F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) and 18F-3'-fluoro-3'-deoxythymidine (18F-FLT) distribution can predict prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer who received surgery. ⋯ 18F-FDG PET heterogeneity parameters, IV and SZV, have a potential to be strong prognostic factors to predict PFS of patients with surgically resected colorectal cancer and are more useful than 18F-FLT-PET/CT heterogeneity parameters.

Giant-cell arteritis: concordance study between aortic CT angiography and FDG-PET/CT in detection of large-vessel involvement.
The purpose of our study was to assess the concordance of aortic CT angiography (CTA) and FDG-PET/CT in the detection of large-vessel involvement at diagnosis in patients with giant-cell arteritis (GCA). ⋯ CTA and FDG-PET/CT were both able to detect large-vessel involvement in GCA with comparable results in a per-patient analysis. However, PET/CT showed higher performance in a per-segment analysis, especially in the detection of inflammation of the aorta's branches.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialProspective head-to-head comparison of 11C-choline-PET/MR and 11C-choline-PET/CT for restaging of biochemical recurrent prostate cancer.
Whole-body integrated 11C-choline PET/MR might provide advantages compared to 11C-choline PET/CT for restaging of prostate cancer (PC) due to the high soft-tissue contrast and the use of multiparametric MRI, especially for detection of local recurrence and bone metastases. ⋯ 11C-choline PET/MR is a robust imaging modality for restaging biochemical recurrent PC and interpretations between different readers are consistent. It provides a higher diagnostic value for detecting local recurrence compared to PET/CT with the advantage of substantial dose reduction. Drawbacks of PET/MR are a substantially longer imaging time and a slight inferiority in detecting bone and lymph node metastases in patients with PSA values >2 ng/ml. Thus, we suggest the use of 11C-choline PET/MR especially for patients with low (≤2 ng/ml) PSA values, whereas PET/CT is preferable in the subgroup with higher PSA values.

Comparative StudyComparison of 18F-FET PET and perfusion-weighted MRI for glioma grading: a hybrid PET/MR study.
Both perfusion-weighted MR imaging (PWI) and O-(2-18F-fluoroethyl)-L-tyrosine PET (18F-FET) provide grading information in cerebral gliomas. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic value of 18F-FET PET and PWI for tumor grading in a series of patients with newly diagnosed, untreated gliomas using an integrated PET/MR scanner. ⋯ Both 18F-FET PET and PWI discriminate LGG from HGG with similar diagnostic performance. Regional abnormalities in the tumor area are usually not congruent indicating that tumor grading by 18F-FET PET and PWI is based on different pathophysiological phenomena.

Metabolic tumor burden quantified on [18F]FDG PET/CT improves TNM staging of lung cancer patients.
The purpose of our study was to test a new staging algorithm, combining clinical TNM staging (cTNM) with whole-body metabolic active tumor volume (MATV-WB), with the goal of improving prognostic ability and stratification power. ⋯ cTNM-P staging has superior prognostic value compared with conventional cTNM staging, and allows better stratification of NSCLC patients.
