Effects of the Elbow Flexion Angle on the Radial Nerve Location around the Humerus: A Cadaver Study for Safe Installation of a Hinged External Fixator.
This study aimed to investigate whether the distance between the radial nerve and rotational center of the elbow joint when observing from the lateral surface of the humerus changes according to passive elbow joint flexion for safe external fixation with a hinged fixator of the elbow joint. ⋯ This study showed that the radial nerve location on the humerus varied based on the flexion angle of the elbow joint; the safe zone may change. A half-pin can be likely inserted safely, avoiding the elbow joint extension position.

Multicenter StudyVenous Thromboembolism in Upper Extremity Fractures.
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) has been studied in lower extremity fractures but little is known of its relation with upper extremity (UE) fractures. As an often overlooked but serious complication, VTE may compromise patient outcomes. ⋯ VTE incidence was highest following proximal humerus or clavicle fractures and are rarely associated with radius/ulna fractures. There may have been a rise in the incidence of PE since 2007, warranting further investigation.

The Effect of Suture Materials on the Biomechanical Performance of Different Flexor Tendon Repairs and the Concept of Construct Efficiency.
To propose a new term ('construct efficiency') for the evaluation of multi strands flexor tendon repairs using different suture materials. ⋯ The construct efficiency is more accurate in showing that, in terms of biomechanical strength, the use of FiberWire for the 4-strand Becker and Cruciate repair is more efficient than that of using FiberLoop for 6-strand modified Lim-Tsai repair.

Brachial plexus injury is very commonly associated with road traffic accidents, and frequently affects young adults, causing significant disability and impact on quality of life. The successful treatment of upper plexus injury with the Oberlin technique to restore elbow flexion with good functional results. ⋯ We found The Oberlin transfer is a useful salvage procedure and most effective results are for young patients with short interval between injury and operation.

Case ReportsIsolated Salter-Harris Type III Physeal Fracture of the Distal Ulna.
We describe a case of isolated physeal fracture of ulna distal end in a 13-year-old boy. This fracture type is uncommon, especially Salter-Harris type III of this injury has not been reported. Plain radiographs showed a small vertical fracture line at the ulnar distal end and an enlargement of epiphyseal plate at the base of ulnar styloid process. The present case was successfully managed with conservative treatment because of its minimal displacement.
