Point of care lung ultrasound (POCUS) has been recently used to assess prognosis in COVID-19 patients. However, there are no data comparing POCUS and chest-X ray, a technique widely used. ⋯ Chest X-ray and POCUS showed no correlation at admission in this analysis. Only POCUS identified a group of patients with greater clinical and analytical involvement. POCUS improved, previous clinical model, while chest X-ray did not add relevant predictive information for the primary endpoint.

Prevalence of autoimmune diseases in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. DIACAM 1 study 2010-2020.
To evaluate the prevalence of autoimmune diseases (AD) associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). ⋯ After 10 years of follow-up, there is a substantial increase in other types of AE in patients with DM1. It seems necessary to carry out a systematic screening of these AD to optimize the follow-up of patients with 1 TDM, mainly of the ATD.

The chronic otitis media questionnaire-12 (COMQ-12) and chronic otitis media benefit inventory (COMBI) aim to assess the quality of life related to chronic otitis media or its surgical treatment. The objective of this study was to validate the Spanish adaptation of the COMQ-12 and COMBI. ⋯ Psychometric testing of the Spanish versions of the COMQ-12-Spa and COMBI-Spa yielded satisfactory results, thus allowing pre- and postintervention assessment of the subjective severity of chronic otitis media in adult patients.

Mortality and renal long-term outcome of critically ill COVID-19 patients with acute kidney failure, continuous renal replacement therapy and invasive mechanical ventilation.
There are limited data describing the long-term renal outcomes of critically ill COVID-19 patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and invasive mechanical ventilation. ⋯ Mortality among critically ill hospitalized patients diagnosed with COVID-19 on CRRT is extremely high (63%). Baseline renal function is a predictor factor of mortality. Filters with adsorption capacity did not modify survival. None survivor patients required long-term dialysis, but an important loss of renal function occurred after AKI episode related to COVID-19 infection.

To evaluate the value of the pulmonary ultrasound for the diagnosis of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) in emergency departments (EDs). ⋯ Ultrasound findings could offer further discrimination for AECOPD complications and other pathological conditions, such as pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, pleural effusion, and pneumothorax in EDs.
