Clinical and microbiological characteristics of patients with Raoultella spp. isolation in Bogotá, Colombia.
Raoultella spp. is a gram-negative bacillus with increasing clinical importance due to the development of multi-drug resistance and because it has been reported as a cause of invasive infection. The risk of infection increases if comorbidities present such as diabetes mellitus and malignancies. ⋯ Raoultella spp. is of clinical importance due to its isolation in immunocompromised patients with multiple comorbidities and due to the increase in multi-resistant strains.

Due to the favourable impact of removing the sinks on isolations in bronchoaspirate samples of patients with mechanical ventilation, we now evaluate the impact on the consumption of antibiotics as well as on the results of the Zero Resistance Project (ZRP). ⋯ The results suggest that the intervention had a favourable impact on the consumption of antibiotics, as well as on the number of days on antibiotics, MRB, and isolation.
