To determine the prevalence and types of clinically significant drug-drug interactions (CSDI) in the drug regimens of HIV-infected patients receiving antiretroviral treatment. ⋯ Drug interactions, including those defined as clinically significant, are common in HIV-infected patients treated with antiretroviral drugs, and the risk is greater in IP-based regimens. Raltegravir-based prescribing, especially in patients who receive at least 3 non-HIV drugs could avoid interactions.

Because of its advantages, inhaled administration of aerosolized drugs is the administration route of choice for the treatment of asthma and COPD. Numerous technological advances in the devices used in inhaled therapy in recent decades have boosted the appearance of multiple inhalers and aerosolized drugs. ⋯ The main objective of the present review is to summarize the current state of knowledge on inhalers and inhaled drugs commonly used in the treatment of asthma. The review ranges from theoretical aspects (fundamentals and available devices and drugs) to practical and relevant aspects for asthma care in the clinical setting (therapeutic strategies, education, and adherence to inhalers).

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison between a multiple daily insulin injection regimen (basal once-daily glargine plus mealtime lispro) and continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (lispro) using continuous glucose monitoring in metabolically optimized type 1 diabetes patients: A randomized open-labelled parallel study.
Advantages of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) over multiple daily injections with glargine (MDI/G) are still uncertain. We compared CSII vs. MDI/G therapy in unselected patients with type 1 diabetes using continuous glucose monitoring (CGSM). The primary end-points were glycaemic control and quality of life (QOL). ⋯ Intensive insulin therapy with CSII vs. MDI/G was associated with better levels of HbA1c in patients with long-term type 1 diabetes.

Observational Study
[Adverse events self-declaration system and influenza vaccination coverage of healthcare workers in a tertiary hospital].
During the influenza vaccination campaign 2011-2012 we established a self-declaration system of adverse events (AEs) in healthcare workers (HCW). The aim of this study is to describe the vaccinated population and analyse vaccination coverage and self-declared AEs after the voluntary flu vaccination in a university hospital in Barcelona. ⋯ Our self-reporting system did not register serious AEs in HCW, resulting in an opportunity to improve HCW trust in flu vaccination.

Our purpose was to assess the utility of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) in pre-surgical characterization of adrenal masses. These masses were incidentally discovered in non-oncologic patients or during the study of endocrine hormone overproduction. These nodular lesions showed nonspecific or suspicious radiological features in the imaging tests routinely performed (CT and/or MRI). ⋯ 18F-FDG-PET may be useful in the characterization of nonspecific or suspicious adrenal masses discovered in patients without a previous history of cancer. Its use in some cases could avoid unnecessary interventions.
