Evaluation of Incisional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in the Prevention of Surgical Site Occurrences After Radical Cystectomy: A New Addition to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocol.
Surgical site infection (SSI) remains a significant complication after radical cystectomy (RC). Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) focuses on interventions to decrease length of stay, but few address wound-related complications directly. ⋯ In this report, we looked at the impact of new vacuum suction dressing on the prevention of surgical infections after radical cystectomy (RC). We found that this wound dressing can decrease the impact of surgical infections and aid in recovery after RC.

Persistent Opioid Use Among Patients with Urolithiasis: A Population based Study.
Urolithiasis can result in acute, short-lived pain for which opioids are often prescribed. The risk of persistent opioid use following an initial presentation for urolithiasis is unknown. ⋯ In this study we found that 9% of patients prescribed opioids at presentation for kidney stones filled an additional prescription 3-6 mo later. Risk factors for this continued use included a higher dose of opioids prescribed in the initial period and the type of kidney stone surgery.

ReviewUse of YouTube as a Resource for Surgical Education-Clarity or Confusion.
The use of video in surgical education and training is an innovative means to teach and expose learners to surgical procedures. The accessibility of YouTube provides a favourable platform for educational content; however, the current lack of peer review may mean that content is lacking or inaccurate. ⋯ YouTube videos are inevitably used as supplementary tools in surgical education. To harness the popularity and accessibility of YouTube for educational purposes, a peer-reviewed YouTube video library may be necessary.

Negative Predictive Value of Biparametric Prostate Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Excluding Significant Prostate Cancer: A Pooled Data Analysis Based on Clinical Data from Four Prospective, Registered Studies.
Multiparametric prostate magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) can be considered the gold standard in prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Biparametric prostate MRI (bpMRI) is faster and could be a feasible alternative to mpMRI. ⋯ We investigated the feasibility of prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with the Improved Prostate Cancer Diagnosis (IMPROD) biparametric MRI (bpMRI) protocol in excluding significant prostate cancer. In this study, highly aggressive prostate cancer was excluded using the publicly available IMPROD bpMRI protocol (http://petiv.utu.fi/multiimprod/).
