Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyOral ivermectin for head lice: a comparison with 0.5 % topical malathion lotion.
Reports of treatment failure of head lice have become increasingly common. Oral ivermectin has been proposed as a potential alternative for the treatment of head lice infestation. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of oral ivermectin with topical malathion lotion in the treatment of head lice. ⋯ Oral ivermectin is a promising effective approach for the treatment of head lice and could be an ideal substitute for conventional pediculicides.

Case ReportsSarcoidal granulomas in a cosmetic tattoo in association with pulmonary sarcoidosis.
Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease of unknown etiology, which may affect multiple organ systems. The skin is involved in up to one-third of cases. ⋯ We report on a patient, who developed sarcoidal granulomas within the black pigment of his tattoos. This subsequently led to the diagnosis of pulmonary sarcoidosis.

To optimize the treatment of acne in Germany, the German Society of Dermatology (DDG) and the Association of German Dermatologists (BVDD) initiated a project to develop consensus-based guidelines for the management of acne. The Acne Guidelines focus on induction therapy, maintenance therapy and treatment of post-acne scarring. They include an evaluation of the most commonly used therapeutic options in Germany. ⋯ For maintenance treatment: topical retinoid or its combination with BPO. Particular attention should be paid to compliance and quality of life. Additional treatment options are discussed in the main body of the text.

How do regional factors influence psoriasis patient care in Germany?
Two national surveys conducted in 2005 and 2007 indicated deficits in psoriasis care in Germany, although there has been a notable nationwide improvement within this period. It remained unclear whether regional differences in psoriasis health care have an influence on patient outcomes in Germany. ⋯ Differences in economic and regulatory conditions of health care might account for the observed regional variations. Thus, further analyses of these factors are of great importance to assure consistent psoriasis health care in Germany.
