Relationship between IL-17, TNF-α, IL-10, IFN-γ, and IL-18 polymorphisms with the outcome of hepatitis B virus infection in the Turkish population.
Hepatitis B virus is a global threat that can lead to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. For the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus, polymorphisms might be an option for gene treatments. This study aimed to investigate the effects of IL-17, TNF-α, IL-10, IFN-γ, and IL-18 gene polymorphisms on hepatitis B virus infection in the Turkish population. ⋯ This study demonstrated that TNF-α (-308), IL-17 (Exon 3/3' UTR), IL-17 (Exon 3), and IL-18 (-607) polymorphisms are associated with hepatitis B virus infection. Therefore, these may serve as potential therapeutic targets for chronic viral hepatitis in the Turkish population.

Observational StudyScreening for coronavirus disease 2019 in pregnant women admitted for delivery: an observational study.
The aim of this study was to examine the impact of symptom-based screening on the prevalence and outcomes of neonatal coronavirus disease 2019 in pregnant women admitted for delivery. ⋯ Universal screening of pregnant women admitted for delivery can reduce the perinatal transmission of coronavirus disease 2019. Symptom-based screening can be an alternative for regions with a low prevalence of the disease where a better allocation of financial resources is necessary.

Evaluation of patients via colonoscopy who underwent positron emission tomography/computerized tomography due to colon involvement.
Fluorodeoxyglucose is not a tumor-specific agent and it can also be involved in benign conditions, which may cause diagnostic confusion. This research aims to elucidate the colonoscopic findings of patients who underwent colonoscopy due to colon involvement in positron emission tomography/computerized tomography. ⋯ Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography can detect unexpected distant metastases with high sensitivity because it allows whole-body imaging. Curative resection significantly contributes to the choice of treatment modality in the pre-operative period of colorectal cancer patients with planned surgery.

Association between ABO blood groups and mortality in upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
Gastrointestinal bleeding is an important part of gastrointestinal emergencies. This study aimed to examine the association between ABO blood groups and mortality in patients who were admitted to the emergency department and diagnosed with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. ⋯ The study concluded that the mortality rate of gastrointestinal bleeding patients with O blood group was higher compared to patients with other blood groups. Physicians can use ABO blood groups to predict mortality risk in gastrointestinal bleeding.

Investigation of the relationship between fear of birth and prenatal attachment in pregnancy.
This study was conducted to examine the relationship between the fear of birth and level of prenatal attachment experienced by the pregnant women. ⋯ In our study, it was determined that as the fear of birth increased, prenatal attachment levels decreased. Initiating and maintaining a healthy mother-infant bond is important for reducing fear of birth.
