Lung and physical function in post COVID-19 and clinical and functional associations: a cross-sectional study in Brazil.
The purpose of this study was to assess exercise capacity, lung and physical function in COVID-19 survivors, and the association of lesion-level characteristics assessed by chest computed tomography, probable sarcopenia, and percentage of diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide with clinical and functional variables. ⋯ Muscle disability and lung dysfunction are common in COVID-19 survivors. Hospitalization was associated with the worst muscle force and diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide. Computed tomography characteristics could be a marker of prolonged hospital stay after the acute phase of COVID-19. Additionally, the probable diagnosis of sarcopenia could be a marker of impact on walking distance. These results highlight the need for long-term follow-up of those patients and rehabilitation programs.

Role of increased plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and vitronectin in gestational diabetes mellitus.
The aim of this study was to analyze the second-trimester levels of vitronectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in gestational diabetes mellitus. ⋯ This study revealed that second-trimester vitronectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 are increased in gestational diabetes mellitus and vitronectin could be a candidate for the prediction of gestational diabetes mellitus.

Selvester score and myocardial performance index in acute anterior myocardial infarction.
The simplified Selvester QRS score is a parameter for estimating myocardial damage in ST-elevation myocardial infarction. ST-elevation myocardial infarction leads to varying degrees of impairment in left ventricular systolic and diastolic function. Myocardial performance index is a single parameter that can predict combined left ventricular systolic and diastolic performance. ⋯ The post-procedural Selvester score can predict lateral tissue Doppler-derived myocardial performance index and conventional myocardial performance index with high sensitivity and acceptable specificity in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute anterior myocardial infarction.

Predictors of mortality in patients with geriatric trauma in the emergency service.
In our study, it was aimed to compare the power of trauma scores (Glasgow Coma Score, Revised Trauma Score, Abbreviated Injury Scale, Injury Severity Score, and Trauma Score-Injury Severity Score) in order to predict mortality in patients with geriatric trauma and to determine the predictive values of these scores in mortality. ⋯ Glasgow Coma Score, Revised Trauma Score, Trauma Score-Injury Severity Score, Abbreviated Injury Scale, and Injury Severity Score scores and blood lactate levels are important parameters that can be used in the emergency department for the early detection of high-risk patients in geriatric trauma and the evaluation of the prognosis of geriatric trauma patients.
