Genomic monitoring unveils a high prevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron variant in vaccine breakthrough cases in Bahia, Brazil.
Genome sequencing has been proved to be an excellent tool to monitor the molecular epidemiology of the disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, i.e., coronavirus disease 2019. Some reports of infected, vaccinated individuals have aroused great interest because they are primarily being infected with circulating variants of concern. To investigate the cases of infected, vaccinated individuals in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, we performed genomic monitoring to estimate the magnitude of the different variants of concern in these cases. ⋯ It is important to acknowledge the limitations of these vaccines and to develop new vaccines to emergent variants of concern, as is the case of influenza vaccine; going through new doses of the same coronavirus vaccines is "more of the same."

The relationship between premature ventricular complexes and index of cardiac-electrophysiological balance.
Premature ventricular complexes are common in healthy individuals' ambulatory monitoring. The index of cardiac-electrophysiological balance may predict malignant ventricular arrhythmias. This study investigated the relation between Premature ventricular complex burden and index of cardiac-electrophysiological balance in 24-h Holter monitoring. ⋯ Corrected index of cardio-electrophysiological balance is a novel and noninvasive marker that can predict premature ventricular complex burden in patients with structurally normal hearts.

Effect of intensive training on immune system cells in elite female weightlifters.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of intense weightlifting training on lymphocyte and natural killer cell subgroups, which are the major cells of the immune system, in elite female weightlifters. ⋯ This study shows that intense weightlifting alters peripheral lymphocyte and natural killer subgroup ratios, being the first investigation in this field.

Evaluation of malnutrition frequency and related factors of geriatric patients in need of home healthcare.
The nutritional status of frail elderly people receiving home health services should be evaluated. This study aimed to determine the nutritional status of patients aged ≥65 years registered in the Home Healthcare Services unit and investigate the factors that may be associated with malnutrition. ⋯ Malnutrition or the risk of malnutrition is common in elderly patients receiving home care services. Many factors can have an impact on malnutrition.

Perceptions of the Brazilian obstetrics physicians about the term obstetric violence: a cross-sectional study.
We observe a growing global discussion about the practices considered "obstetric violence" against women during pregnancy and childbirth. Otherwise, the indiscriminate subjective and lay interpretation of the term "obstetric violence" can lead to a misunderstanding among medical professionals. ⋯ We observed that almost three in four obstetrician participants consider the term "obstetric violence" nocive or harmful to professional practice, particularly in those who graduated before 2000 and from a private institution. The findings are relevant to propose further debates and strategies to mitigate the possible harms caused to the obstetrician team by the indiscriminate use of the term obstetric violence.
