The bone mineral density and isokinetic knee strength in amputee soccer players.
The aim of this study was to examine the isokinetic knee strength, H/Q ratio (%), and bone mineral density values between amputees (n=14; amputee soccer players) and healthy football players (n=14; non-amputee soccer players). ⋯ The bone mineral density, H/Q ratio, and all measured angular velocities of isokinetic strength were high in non-amputee soccer players. This finding made us think that lower extremity amputation may also be associated with losing strength. However, it was observed that the relationship between strength and bone mineral density in amputee athletes might vary according to different angular velocities. It is recommended that isokinetic strength measurement can be evaluated together with bone mineral density in athletes.

Pectus excavatum is the most prevalently encountered deformity of the thoracic wall. It can be accompanied by congenital anomalies. ⋯ Our study showed that the prevalence of cardiac pathologies was higher in pediatric pectus excavatum patients than in healthy children in the control group. Thus, we recommend clinicians to refer pediatric pectus excavatum patients to pediatric cardiology outpatient clinics for the early diagnosis of potential cardiac pathologies.

Effects of closed and open kinetic chain exercises on pain, muscle strength, function, and quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
Therapeutic exercises are well documented for the treatment of osteoarthritis; there is less evidence on what the effect of closed kinetic chain exercises is for knee osteoarthritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of open kinetic chain exercises and closed kinetic chain exercises on pain, muscle strength, functional status, and quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ The changes in all outcome measures were similar between closed kinetic chain exercises and open kinetic chain exercises (p>0.05). Closed kinetic chain exercises and open kinetic chain exercises were similar for knee osteoarthritis grade I and II. Closed kinetic chain exercises could be safely added to the exercise programs of patients with low-grade knee osteoarthritis.

Diffusion-weighted imaging versus non-contrast magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis during pregnancy.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of diffusion-weighted imaging compared to non-contrast magnetic resonance imaging in the differential diagnosis of acute appendicitis in pregnant patients. ⋯ With a shorter scan time and higher diagnostic accuracy, diffusion-weighted imaging can be useful for the early diagnosis of acute appendicitis and for planning appropriate management.

Observational StudyTumor budding in invasive breast carcinoma: correlation with clinicopathological parameters, hormone receptor status, and survival: an observational study.
Tumor budding is currently thought to be associated with worse prognosis. This study aims to examine tumor budding in invasive ductal-type breast carcinoma and its relationship with other clinicopathological parameters and overall survival. ⋯ Tumor budding may be a prognostic indicator for breast cancer.
