Observational StudyThe effect of functional independence levels on sleep and constipation in children with cerebral palsy.
The study aimed to examine the effect of functional independence levels on sleep behavior and constipation in children with cerebral palsy. ⋯ We described that lower functional independence levels were related to worse sleep and constipation symptoms. The results suggest that effective strategies for developing functional independence levels may be beneficial for both sleep and constipation symptoms in the concept of cerebral palsy management.

Cardiovascular diseases in women: a differentiated view and risk stratification.
Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of mortality in men and women worldwide, surpassing mortality from all associated neoplasms. In women, its prevalence and mortality increase at menopause, but complications of reproductive age, such as preeclampsia and eclampsia, lead to increased cardiovascular risk throughout their lives. ⋯ However, in women, other mechanisms are associated with myocardial ischemia, such as microcirculation disease and/or vasospasm, due to the anatomical and hormonal characteristics of women in different stages of their lives. Knowledge of the most prevalent cardiovascular diseases in women, as well as the specific risk factors, the traditional ones with the greatest impact, and the under-recognized ones, is of fundamental importance in their risk stratification, diagnosis, and management, fundamentally aiming at reducing mortality.

Observational StudyAncestry and self-reported race in Brazilian breast cancer women.
This study aimed to evaluate the association between self-reported race/color and ancestry in Brazilian patients with breast cancer. ⋯ Although we found many similarities between white European ancestry, black African ancestry, and yellow Asian ancestry, there is great miscegenation between patients. Although they can be labeled as having one race, they do present many ancestral genes that would allow their inclusion in another race group.

Serotonin, ghrelin, and motilin gene/receptor/transporter polymorphisms in childhood functional constipation.
Functional constipation is the most common form of constipation, and its exact aetiology is still unclear. However, it is known that deficiencies in hormonal factors cause constipation by changing physiological mechanisms. Motilin, ghrelin, serotonin acetylcholine, nitric oxide, and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide are factors that play a role in colon motility. There are a limited number of studies in the literature where hormone levels and gene polymorphisms of serotonin and motilin are examined. Our study aimed to investigate the role of motilin, ghrelin, and serotonin gene/receptor/transporter polymorphisms in constipation pathogenesis in patients diagnosed with functional constipation according to the Rome 4 criteria. ⋯ Our study results showed that gene polymorphisms of these three hormones may not be related to constipation in children.

A novel labeling modality of intra-abdominal lesions with Magseed magnetic marker and extirpation by Sentimag probe navigation.
This study aimed to evaluate our experience with the use of Magseed, the magnetic metallic marker, as a localization technique followed by Sentimag probe detection in patients with solitary intra-abdominal local metastases with subsequent resection of the lesions. ⋯ Magseed utilization, as a localization technique, followed by Sentimag probe detection in intra-abdominal tumors has not been reported before. Improving the visualization and, consequently, the precise marking of the lesion with subsequent radical removal can prevent insufficient or excessive removal of healthy tissue, leading to a faster diagnosis and better overall clinical outcomes.
