Nutritional aspects and cardiovascular risk in systemic lupus erythematosus.
Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus present with a higher number of classic risk factors for coronary diseases and a higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome resulting from the disease itself. To evaluate the nutritional indicators of the cardiovascular risk of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus by analyzing eating habits, anthropometry, laboratory data, and disease activity and to describe the prevalence of patients fulfilling the criteria for metabolic syndrome. ⋯ Individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus presented with increased risk factors, as determined using anthropometric measurements and laboratory tests, for cardiovascular disease, indicating the need for nutritional guidance in this population to reduce cardiovascular risk, increase the quality of life, and increase survival of these patients.

Association of laboratorial parameters and prognostic factors in uterine corpus cancer.
The aims were to compare the red blood cells, platelet count, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, red cell distribution width, and fasting glucose in peripheral blood of patients with benign and malignant uterine neoplasms and to relate these laboratory parameters with prognostic factors and overall survival in cancer. ⋯ Hemoglobin and platelet-lymphocyte ratio values are prognostic factors in uterine corpus cancer.

Can various complete blood count parameters helpful in preoperative diagnosis of adnexal torsion?
Adnexal torsion is an important gynecological emergency due to nonfrequent but possible adverse reproductive outcomes. There is no specific laboratory marker to support the preoperative diagnosis or that can be used clinically. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic values of platelet, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and red cell markers as an early indicator of ovarian torsion. ⋯ According to the regression analysis, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio was found to be the most beneficial among all blood count parameters for the pre-diagnosis of AT.

Anxiety and depression scores in patients subjected to aortic and iliac aneurysm repair procedures.
This study examines the changes in anxiety and depression scores of 84 patients subjected to aortic or iliac aneurysm correction with no previous psychiatric history. ⋯ Patients subjected to aortoiliac aneurysm corrections have a higher incidence of anxiety and depressive symptoms. Anxiety symptoms, but not the depressive ones, improved considerably following the successful treatment. The formal psychiatric evaluation may be beneficial for patients with less improvement in the symptom.

Pelvic floor muscle training program for women in the puerperal period: clinical progress after intervention.
To evaluate the sexual function of women in the puerperal period after a postpartum pelvic floor musculature training program. We also sought to evaluate correlations between sexual dysfunction in the women and their delivery type and compare the frequency of sexual dysfunction and the quality of resumed sexual function following vaginal and cesarean deliveries. ⋯ Pelvic floor muscle exercise programs seem to be a very promising strategy concerning improving sexual activity among puerperal patients.
