Accuracy of intrapartum cardiotocography in identifying acidemia at birth by umbilical cord blood gasometry in high-risk pregnancies.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of intrapartum cardiotocography in identifying acidemia at birth by umbilical cord blood gasometry in high-risk pregnancies. ⋯ All three categories of intrapartum cardiotocography showed low sensitivity and high specificity for identifying acidemia at birth.

Colonoscopy following the positron emission tomography/computed tomography scan in patients with incidental colorectal uptake: what is the most effective management?
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignancies. Survival rates are directly related to the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis, emphasizing the value of early diagnosis. Positron emission tomography with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose is the gold standard imaging technique in staging, monitoring after treatment, and follow-up. We aimed to assess the importance of incidental 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake by colon and rectum in positron emission tomography-computed tomography imaging to determine a significant cutoff value for further investigation using colonoscopy and histopathological assessment. ⋯ Regarding the studies determining a significant cutoff value, incidental colonic 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake on positron emission tomography/computed tomography should lead the clinician to further investigation with colonoscopic biopsy, although the cutoff values for SUVmax are not certain and different in almost every published study, and negative positron emission tomography.computed tomography findings should not completely rule out malignancy, especially in high-risk patients.

The effect of the tumor-to-skin distance on axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer.
Tumor-to-skin distance is known to have an effect on axillary lymph node metastasis but has no clinical use with nomograms. This study aimed to investigate the effect of tumor-to-skin distance on axillary lymph node metastasis alone and in combination with nomogram for clinical use. ⋯ Although tumor-to-skin distance demonstrated a significant difference in axillary lymph node metastasis, it had a poor association with an area under curve value of 0.597 and did not produce a significant improvement in predicting lymph node metastasis when combined with the nomogram. The tumor-to-skin distance may be unlikely to enter clinical practice.

The clinical significance of lymphovascular space invasion in patients with low-risk endometrial cancer.
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of lymphovascular space invasion on recurrence and disease-free survival in patients with low-risk endometrial cancer. ⋯ lymphovascular space invasion is a prognostic risk factor for recurrence and distant metastasis and also a predictor of poorer disease-free survival outcomes in low-risk endometrial cancer.

Analysis of appendiceal neoplasms in 1,423 appendectomy specimens: a 10-year retrospective cohort study from a single institution.
This study aimed to reveal the incidence, clinicopathological, and oncological outcomes of appendiceal neoplasms. ⋯ Appendiceal neoplasms are rare but remain an important cause of mortality. Appendiceal adenocarcinomas are associated with poorer oncological outcomes compared to other neoplasms.
