Efficacy and safety of sugammadex in patients undergoing renal transplantation.
Sugammadex reverses rocuronium by encapsulating it, creating a stable complex that is mainly excreted by the kidneys. Nonetheless, in view of exposure to sugammadex during renal transplantation, current safety data are insufficient. We retrospectively investigated the safety and efficacy of sugammadex in the immediate perioperative period and over long-term follow-up. ⋯ We investigated whether 99 consecutive patients undergoing renal transplantation may benefit from the use of sugammadex. There were no adverse events. We concluded that, in our observational period, sugammadex was efficacious and safe in patients who underwent renal transplantation.

Anesthetic management with subcostal transversus abdominis plane block in recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa for peritoneal dialysis catheter replacement: a case report.
Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is a rare, hereditary mucocutaneous disorder that can involve renal insufficiency. If a vascular access for hemodialysis is unavailable, peritoneal dialysis can be utilized. This report describes an anesthetic management with ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) in a patient with RDEB for peritoneal dialysis catheter replacement. ⋯ In summary, subcostal TAPB could be a useful option for peritoneal dialysis catheter surgery in patients with RDEB.

Usefulness of dexmedetomidine to prevent emergence agitation in a patient with Krabbe disease: a case report.
We report the case of a child with Krabbe disease who underwent three repeated surgeries and anesthetic management, and we discuss the major concerns about Krabbe disease and the usefulness of a perioperative administration of dexmedetomidine to prevent emergence agitation and hypertension. The patient was scheduled to undergo bilateral orchiopexy, adenotonsillectomy, and knee flexor tendon lengthening under general anesthesia during a 2-year period. ⋯ The perioperative administration of dexmedetomidine was useful to prevent emergence agitation, hypertension, and resultant postoperative bleeding in a pediatric patient with Krabbe disease. Three repeated anesthetic management using inhalation anesthesia were completed uneventfully without muscle relaxants.

Retracted PublicationSuccessful clavicle fracture surgery performed under selective supraclavicular nerve block using the new subclavian approach.
Cervical nerves block cannot be performed on some patients because of the risk of phrenic nerve paralysis. To overcome this limitation, we discovered the site of selective only supraclavicular nerve block at the subclavian site. ⋯ We can perform selective supraclavicular nerve blocks for clavicular fracture surgery of patients who have bilateral pneumothorax.
