Randomized Controlled TrialPhysiological and physical responses to wearing compression garments during soccer matches and recovery.
There is not enough information on the effects of compression therapy in soccer players during recovery after matches. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of wearing compression garments during soccer matches and during recovery period on physical responses. ⋯ Compression garments could be moderately beneficial, but effects are not significant.

Various injuries in kitesurfing (KS) have been reported so far. The aim of this study was to validate the effect of different kite designs and safety equipment on the injury rate compared to older studies. ⋯ An influence of equipment on injuries could be statistically shown. The overall injury rate in KS did not decline in the last decades, but time-loss injuries did.

Injury rates in martial arts athletes and predictive risk factors for lower limb injuries.
Previous studies attempted to identify possible risk factors for acute and overuse injuries in several sports disciplines such as running, gymnastics or team sports. Given the lack of scientific works focused on risk factors for lower limb injuries in martial arts, the present study was aimed to investigate foot anatomy, anthropometric measures, and other background information as possible risk factors of injury in barefoot athletes practicing judo, karate, kung fu, Thai boxing, or aikido. In addition, the injury rates were evaluated in relation with the different martial art styles. ⋯ The injury rates were similar in karate, judo, kung fu, aikido, and Thai boxing. The foot morphology variables were not related with the presence or absence of acute and overuse injuries. Conversely, older and heavier martial artists, performing more hours of barefoot training, are at higher risk of acute and overuse injury. Athletic trainers should strongly take into account the present information in order to develop more accurate and specific injury prevention programs for martial artists.

Associations between functional movement screen scores and performance variables in surf athletes.
Functional movement screen (FMS) have been used to assess the movement patterns in daily sports practice. Some associations between FMS scores and physical variables have been found in some sports. Nevertheless, no study was conducted in surf. ⋯ FMS individual scores seems to better explain physical variables than total score. Only trunk stability push-up test seems to be a reliable indicator to predict physical performance in surf athletes.

Observational StudyAnterior cruciate ligament injury profile in female elite Italian basketball league.
In female basketball athletes anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is the most frequent lower limb injury. Because it is very difficult to get a clear picture of the risk inherent in elite female Italian basketball players, we designed an observational study with a retrospective case-series design with the aim to investigate the incidence of ACL injury in elite Italian basketball league. ⋯ This observational study with a retrospective case-series design provided information about ACL injuries in Italian female basketball players during their career. Professionals had to identify soon the different risk factors for ACL injury in order to provide prophylactic intervention to reduce the incidence of ACL injuries in Elite female Italian professional league.
