Endovascular coil embolization is an important method for managing intracranial aneurysms. However, aneurysm coiling may fail or be insufficient in geographically difficult aneurysms. A flow-diverter stent (FDS) is an alternative in these difficult coiling aneurysms. Thus, this study reports the experience and outcome of FDS management of intracranial aneurysms. ⋯ Despite few procedural complications and some pieces of evidence of insufficient aneurismal treatment in a midterm angiographic follow-up, FDS was effective and safe in managing intracranial unruptured aneurysms, particularly in smaller aneurysms, which had better CO than larger ones.

To present the complications of free-flap phalloplasty in three-staged female-to-male transgender surgery. ⋯ In free-flap phalloplasty for female-to-male transgender surgery, utilization of free fibula osteocutaneous flap with vaginal mucosa for a prefabricated urethra resulted in the lowest complication rate. Further comparisons among different procedures of phalloplasty are warranted.

Right ventricular outflow tract obstruction relief is one of the major procedures during the total correction of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Pulmonary insufficiency (PI) is usually inevitable after a transannular incision with a patch repair is performed. Therefore, some surgeons advocate to place a monocusp valve within the transannular patch (TAP) in order to decrease the severity of the PI. However, the monocusp valve seemed not be very effective in some patients who underwent the complete TOF repair. ⋯ Implantation of a monocusp valve during the total TOF correction using a TAP did not bring benefit to improve the immediate postoperative outcomes, especially the duration of the pleural drainage. Further study with a prospective design and a larger number of cases is needed.

Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is a vision-threatening disease, usually associated with contact lens (CL) wear. As overnight orthokeratology (OOK) is increasingly used to control myopia, we have found incidence of OOK-associated AK is increasing. This study aimed to investigate the clinical presentation and visual outcomes of OOK-associated AK. ⋯ Most CL-associated AK patients had satisfactory visual outcomes. Half of AK at our hospital is OOK-associated since 2010. Early diagnosis and correct treatment may be the reason why OOK-associated AK patients had better vision prognosis.

Liver transplantation is the definitive treatment for defined stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in cirrhotic patients. Loco-regional therapy (LRT) may be considered before transplantation to prevent the disease progression and the patient from dropping out of the waiting list. This study aims to evaluate the impact of repeated pretransplant LRTs on the long-term outcomes in HCC liver transplant recipients. ⋯ Repeated LRT for HCC can be associated with the risk of tumor recurrence and inferior patient survival after LDLT in cirrhotic patients. Early referral of those eligible for transplantation may improve the treatment outcomes in these patients.
