[Requirements for CE-marking of apps and wearables].
Depending on the intended use, apps and wearables can be medical devices. In such cases, the manufacturer has to provide evidence that the requirements stated in directive 93/42/EWG are fulfilled. Depending on the classification of the medical device, several so-called conformity assessment procedures are possible. ⋯ Additionally, it should be pointed out, that according to the new medical device regulation almost all apps will fall at least into class IIa. Thus, the involvement of a Notified Body in the related conformity assessment procedures would be required. Apps that have already been put onto the market as class I devices, and are now upgraded to a higher class, need the approval of a notified body starting from 26 May 2020.

Review[Responsibilities and concepts for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in Germany : A plea for a reorientation].
Undergraduate medical education in Germany takes place in the medical faculties of universities, whereas postgraduate medical education takes place in nearly all hospitals under the aegis of medical associations. Both phases of the medical qualification process live on their own; the communication between the two responsible bodies is negligible. Previous reforms have always tackled undergraduate education only, whereas postgraduate education takes place without public attention. ⋯ The dissociation between under- and postgraduate education has historical reasons. Over a longer period of time the German Federal States reduced their responsibility for postgraduate education in favor of medical associations. The authors propose steps towards a better integration of both sequences, towards seeing the educational process as a continuum. In such a concept, medical associations would have a greater influence on undergraduate education and - vice versa - medical faculties on the postgraduate phase.

Review[Interprofessional approaches in undergraduate medical education].
Social change and the subsequent increase in the complexity of patient care create new challenges for all health care professionals that can only be met by close collaboration. Good cooperation between professionals from all healthcare backgrounds has proven to be essential and should therefore play a larger role in educational and study contexts. ⋯ This is certainly true in countries such as Sweden, Canada, England, and most recently Switzerland, where interprofessional teaching is being systematically introduced into medical training. The current situation in Germany is demonstrated by the selected projects from the Robert Bosch Foundation's support program "Operation Team." The existing need for interprofessional qualification opportunities and advanced training programs for teaching staff, the need for exam content for medical state examinations, as well as to establish a structural framework and research structure in the area of interprofessional education and competence development are outlined and discussed.

Review[Digital learning and teaching in medical education : Already there or still at the beginning?]
The current choice of digital teaching and learning formats in medicine is very heterogeneous. In addition to the widely used classical static formats, social communication tools, audio/video-based media, interactive formats, and electronic testing systems enrich the learning environment. For medical students, the private use of digital media is not necessarily linked to their meaningful use in the study. ⋯ Current trends in digital teaching and learning offerings are mobile, interactive, and personalized platforms as well as increasing the relevance of learning platforms. Furthermore, didactical concepts targeting the changed learning habits of the students are more successful regarding the acceptance and learning outcomes. In addition, digitalization is currently gaining importance as a component in the medical school curricula.

Comparative Study[Use of E‑cigarettes as an additional tool in a smoking cessation group intervention : Results after 12 months].
E-cigarettes are considerably safer regarding health issues than conventional cigarettes, but there is uncertainty concerning its use for smoking cessation. ⋯ The application of E‑cigarettes is counterproductive for smokers looking for help in an abstinence oriented smoking cessation group. The lack of distinct, easy to follow instructions on the use of E‑cigarettes as a cessation tool may impair the process of cessation. Without good guidance smokers may get distracted in their motivation and willingness to stop smoking.
