To examine hospital-level factors associated with the use of a dedicated pediatric dose-reduction protocol and protective shielding for head CT in a national sample of hospitals. ⋯ Results from this study provide guidance for tailored educational campaigns and quality improvement interventions to increase the adoption of pediatric dose-reduction efforts.

MRI is an important diagnostic tool for acute medical admissions. Its relevance to in-hospital mortality and length of stay (LOS) has been examined at St James's Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. ⋯ MR imaging identified in a subgroup of emergency patients at higher risk of an in-hospital death. These patients have longer LOS attributable in part to procedure wait times, not merely to illness severity or comorbidities.

The aim of this study was to document how academic radiology departments cover emergency department radiologic services after hours. ⋯ Academic radiology departments vary widely in how they cover after-hours emergency department examinations. A number have recently expanded their hours of coverage under institutional pressures.
