The objectives of this paper are to analyze the Spanish scientific production in nursing, define its temporal evolution, its geographical and institutional distribution, and observe the interinstitutional collaboration. ⋯ There is a strong need to use international databases for research, care and teaching, in addition to the national specialized information resources. Professionals are encouraged to normalization of the paper's signature, both, surnames and institutions to which they belong. It confirms the limited cooperation with foreign institutions, although there is an increasing trend of collaboration between Spanish authors in this discipline. It is observed, clearly defined three interinstitutional collaboration patterns.

The interest in responding to socially determined health needs has led to an increased use of qualitative methodology by researchers and health professionals. This situation has prompted a search for new tools that will facilitate implementation and promote the quality of their research. ⋯ Two methodological tools are presented here in the form of self-reflective questions, with some examples from qualitative health studies conducted in Spain, which can help novice researchers to plan how to commence a qualitative project. Some implications for the health research, practice and policy are discussed.

[Validity of the Connor-Davidson resilience scale (10 items) in a population of elderly].
To examine the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the CD-RISC 10-items in a sample of the elderly population of Cuenca, Spain; and to assess if the Spanish version preserves the same factorial structure as the original one. ⋯ The Spanish version of the CD-RISC-10 showed good psychometric properties. Thus, it can be used as a valid and reliable instrument to measure resilience in the non-institutionalized older population.

Avoidable adverse events must be subjected to continuous control to be detected at the time and prevent their occurrence. Its knowledge is essential to prevent them and their consequences and any effective action on the matter of risk management and health safety must be taken into account. Surgical checklists fulfil these requirements, making patient care easier and opening the possibility of effective communication with the group and with the patient. ⋯ In the preparation of this checklist, a review was made of other surgical checklists of reference, as well as the recommendations for producing one and the justification of its need in all interventional procedures of risk. A simple checklist has been designed, which is adaptable to the specific characteristics of interventional radiology. Nursing staff are the key professionals on the design and implementation helping to identify those conditions that may threaten the success of the intervention.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are common complications during the postoperative period, causing important discomfort to the patient and also can increase morbidity. The objective of our article is to predict the prevalence of postoperative nausea and vomiting, the factors that have an influence on its appearance, and to obtain a predictive model based on prognostic factors. ⋯ The prevalence of PONV in this study has been high, as more a third of the studied population suffered from it. The predictive model should help determine the specific risk of each patient of suffering from PONV, thus being able to define a therapeutic strategy during the preoperative period as well as during the postoperative period. Being female, a previous history of PONV, and undergoing an aggressive surgical procedure are risk factors. Patient mobilization and family visits increase the number of PONV episodes.
