Patient perspectives on priorities for emergency medicine research: The PERSPEX study.
To determine the priorities for emergency medicine research of patients currently in an ED and to compare their priorities with those of ACEM researchers. ⋯ The top 5 emergency medicine research priorities nominated by patients in ED were cardiology, trauma, ED processes, mental health and haematology/oncology, although many 'system priorities' were identified as well. These priorities were generally consistent with ACEM researchers, but patients also suggested alternative directions for future research.

Elderly patients with suspected chronic digoxin toxicity: A comparison of clinical characteristics of patients receiving and not receiving digoxin-Fab.
The aim of the present study was to compare clinical features of patients with elevated serum digoxin concentrations who were treated with digoxin-Fab with those where the immunotherapy was not given by a tertiary hospital toxicology service. ⋯ Digoxin-Fab was more commonly administered when heart rate was <51/min. It had a small effect on increasing heart rate; however, individual response to digoxin-Fab was variable as patients were using other negative chronotropic medications. In symptomatic bradycardic patients on multiple heart failure medications, positive chronotropic and potassium-lowering therapies should be considered in concert with digoxin-Fab.

Observational StudyFactors associated with patient-reported procedural memory following emergency department procedural sedation with ketamine and propofol: A prospective cohort of 563 patients.
To describe the proportion of patients reporting procedural memory following procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) with ketamine and propofol (KP) administered premixed together (ketofol) or individually (sequential KP) in ED attendees. Identify any clinical or demographic variables associated with procedural memory. ⋯ Procedural memory was uncommon for both mix types; however, a greater proportion of the premixed ketofol group had unpleasant memory. Associations with sex, opiates, moderate sedation and propofol dose were identified, and respiratory adverse events were more common in the premixed ketofol group.
