Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe Influence of Shortening on Clinical Outcome in Healed Displaced Midshaft Clavicular Fractures After Nonoperative Treatment.
We aimed to evaluate the effect of clavicular shortening, measured with 3-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT), on functional outcomes and satisfaction in patients with healed displaced midshaft clavicular fractures up to 1 year following injury. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. Multicenter StudyFunctional Gain and Pain Relief After Total Joint Replacement According to Obesity Status.
Obesity has been associated with lower function and more pain before and after total hip or knee replacement (THR or TKR). We examined the changes between preoperative and postoperative function and pain in a large representative U.S. cohort to determine if there was a relationship to obesity status. ⋯ Therapeutic Level II. All-Cause Versus Complication-Specific Readmission Following Total Knee Arthroplasty.
Unplanned readmissions have become an important quality indicator, particularly for reimbursement; thus, accurate assessment of readmission frequency and risk factors for readmission is critical. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the frequency of and (2) risk factors for readmissions for all causes or procedure-specific complications within 30 days after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) as well as (3) the association between hospital volume and readmission rate. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. Multicenter Study Comparative StudyComparison of Anterior and Posterior Surgery for Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy: An MRI-Based Propensity-Score-Matched Analysis Using Data from the Prospective Multicenter AOSpine CSM North America and International Studies.
Surgeons often choose between 2 different approaches (anterior and posterior) for surgical treatment of degenerative cervical myelopathy on the basis of imaging features of spinal cord compression, the number of levels affected, and the spinal alignment. However, there is a lack of consensus on which approach is preferable. The objective of the present study was to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based propensity-score-matched analysis to compare postoperative outcomes between the anterior and posterior surgical approaches for degenerative cervical myelopathy. ⋯ Therapeutic Level III. Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyPlate Fixation Versus Nonoperative Treatment for Displaced Midshaft Clavicular Fractures: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
The aim was to analyze whether patients with a displaced midshaft clavicular fracture are best managed with plate fixation or nonoperative treatment with respect to nonunion, secondary operations, and functional outcome, by evaluating all available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on this subject. ⋯ Therapeutic Level I. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.
