Effectiveness of a home hazard modification program for reducing falls in urban community-dwelling older adults: A randomized controlled trial.
To evaluate the potential improvement of fall prevention awareness and home modification behaviors and to decrease indoor falls by applying a home hazard modification program (HHMP) in community-dwelling older adults followed up to 1 year in this randomized controlled trial. ⋯ HHMP has the potential to improve fall prevention awareness and home modification behaviors, and specifically decreased overall and indoor falls in 12 weeks in those aged 75 years and older in community-dwelling older adults.

Randomized controlled trial on the relaxation effects of back massages for puerperants on the first post-partum day.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relaxation effects of back massage for puerperants on the first post-partum day using physiological and subjective indicators. ⋯ A back massage is considered to be one of the effective nursing care methods with which psychological relaxation can be given to puerperants in the early part of the puerperium. The multiparous group demonstrated the relaxation effects because a significant effect was observed in heart rate, HF, and diastolic blood pressure. However, no significant difference was seen in LF/HF; therefore, further investigation of this relaxation effect using physiological indicators is warranted.

Effectiveness of orientation tour on children's anxiety before elective surgeries.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of an orientated tour in reduction of children's anxiety before elective surgeries. Anxiety is a common emotional reaction following surgical experience among children that can result in increasing postoperative pain, increasing analgesic use. ⋯ Implementation of an orientated tour of the preoperative room can decrease anxiety levels in children before elective surgeries, but it has no clinical effect on vital signs.

This research identified and analyzed relationships of grief care by visiting nurses using antecedent factors and grief care outcomes. ⋯ Simply being told how to provide care to the patient during the terminal phase is inadequate. The care during this period seemed to require years of experience as a visiting nurse. Nurses should consider more effective educational methods to nurture this skill rather than wait for it to be acquired through experience. Implementation of grief care is an opportunity for receiving feedback on the care nurses provided. Grief care provides motivation for nursing and maintains mental health.

The aim of this concept analysis was to describe attributes, antecedents, and consequences of reflection in nursing professional development, as well as surrogate terms and a model case to inform nursing educators, students, and nurses about developing reflective skills. ⋯ Reflection is used as a method or tool that connects knowledge and experiences. Through the process of reflection, students/nurses become aware of themselves, which helps them review and improve clinical skills. They also become more able to communicate with patients and colleagues. Reflection enhances self-directed learning and professional maturity. Nurses who use reflection can be better positioned to provide excellent patient care.
