Penile fracture is a rare injury, bearing potential impairment of erectile function if not treated. Patients with clinical presentation of a penile fracture commonly undergo early surgical exploration with the intention to repair a tunica albuginea tear. ⋯ Dorsal vein tears may mimic penile fracture. Both partners in a relationship are typically affected when one experiences sexual dysfunction and/or pain. However, couple functioning has rarely been investigated in Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS), a common condition in men involving pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction. ⋯ Significant links exist among the sexual and relationship functioning of patients with CP/CPPS and their partners. These results emphasize the importance of the interpersonal context on couples' functioning, and highlight the need to adopt a biopsychosocial approach when investigating CP/CPPS.

Vulvar vestibulitis syndrome (VVS) is a common cause of vulvar pain. Therapeutic options target different pain systems believed to be involved in its development and maintenance. Most treatments target the pain component with the assumption that sexual function will increase once the pain has decreased, yet this is not necessarily the case. ⋯ Hypnotherapy appears to be a promising treatment for reducing intercourse pain and some aspects of noncoital vulvar pain, and for restoring sexual function in women with VVS. These results suggest that a large controlled trial should be considered.
