A mixed methods analysis of community pharmacists' perspectives on delivering COPD screening service to guide future implementation.
Studies have shown that COPD screening by community pharmacists is effective, but it is unknown if it can be successfully implemented in Australian pharmacies. ⋯ This mixed methods study identified a number of key facilitators to service implementation and challenges such as difficulty with patient recruitment, low public awareness of pharmacy-based clinical services, remuneration, and sub-optimal GP-pharmacist collaboration. Working with stakeholders to identify and resolve challenges and to optimise the fit of the service for individual settings may lead to increasingly successful implementation of pharmacy-based service models.

Exploring pharmacy service users' support for and willingness to use community pharmacist prescribing services.
In 2012, community pharmacists in Ontario, Canada gained regulatory authority to independently prescribe, including renew and adapt prescriptions. Studies have explored views of pharmacists, physicians and policymakers about pharmacist prescribing but less is known about the views of community pharmacy services users. ⋯ Community pharmacy service users in Ontario expressed varying support for and stated willingness to use pharmacist prescribing services. This seemed to be due to their perceptions of the pharmacists' role (compared to physicians) and concerns about risks. Understanding these contributing factors will help implement strategies that address concerns and facilitate use of community pharmacists' prescribing services.

Collaboration between hospital and community pharmacists to address drug-related problems: The HomeCoMe-program.
Hospital discharge poses a significant threat to the continuity of medication therapy and frequently results in drug-related problems post-discharge. Therefore, establishing continuity of care by realizing optimal collaboration between hospital and community pharmacists is of utmost importance. ⋯ Collaboration between hospital and community pharmacists from hospital admission to readmission to primary care is crucial to establish continuity of care. A post-discharge community pharmacist home visit is a valuable addition to in-hospital transitional care to identify and solve drug-related problems.
